What’s Ramblin’ Joe Really Up to in His Closed Door ‘Meetings’?

Yesterday, Andrew Malcolm, of the Los Angeles Times ‘Top of the Ticket’ took issue with Joe Biden’s prediliction for having closed door meetings (not private meetings, though, as that would go against Team Obama’s policies of Glastnost, er, openness).

It was a followup to a post earlier in the month, about how the Veep’s handlers have stopped calling them “private” meetings and just refer to them as meetings that are ‘closed press’.

I don’t have a problem with his basic premise – when it was ‘Bush & Company’ having closed door meetings with unnamed people discussing unmentionable topics, the Left just knew it was because they were up to no good, but when it is Ramblin’ Joe Biden, no one bats an eye.

I think that Mr. Malcolm may be making a mountain out of a molehill, though.

Maybe the reason no one bats an eye about Joe’s closed door ‘meetings’ is because they know that behind those closed doors, it’s just Joe, a comfy sofa, and four or five hours of ‘quiet’ time.

After all, President Obama can’t spend all of his time worrying about what Joe might be out there saying now.  He is having a hard enough time keeping on message as it is, what with his own recent case of foot-in-mouth-itis regarding ‘Gates-gate’, those rebellious Blue Dogs, and falling poll numbers.
