Note to Criminals: Make Sure the Getaway Car Has Plenty of Gas

June 5th, 2009 | Tags:

The Associated Press reported yesterday that two bank robbers in Daytona Beach, Florida, had their getaway thwarted because they ran out of gas.

Yes, that’s right, they ran out of gas as they made their get away.

On Tuesday, Randall Fredric Walker, 38, demanded money from a teller at the Riverside National Bank.  After he got the money, he left the bank and hopped into a Jeep Cherokee, driven by Jason Warren Dietrich, 35.

Not far from the bank, the criminal masterminds ran out of gas.  The two then fled on foot, going their separate ways.  The police found the Jeep Cherokee and traced it back to the registered owner – Jason Dietrich.

Both men were subsequently picked up and charged with bank robbery.

I wonder if their bank robbery plan read something like this:

  1. Rob Bank.
  2. Stop at QuickTrip and use $50 from bank robbery to fill up Jeep Cherokee.
  3. Drive to Cuba and live like kings!

LOL! People should really think things over at least twice to make sure that everything goes as planned. And next time, make sure your get away car has enough gas for a getaway.
