I think Jack Cafferty hits a stand up triple with his biting commentary on Nancy Pelosi’s performance with the “stimulus package” that the House of Representatives passed.

Two highlights stand out to me:

“Acting like children who hadn’t seen Santa Claus for eight years, House Democrats busily loaded up the bill with stuff they had been unable to get for eight years. It was payback time.”

and

“When asked if the lack of Republican support was at least partly her fault, she gave some snotty answer about not being partisan but working for the American people. Right.”

In case anyone has any doubts about Speaker Pelosi’s agenda with the stimulus and her attitude towards bipartisanship, she cleared things up the week of January 25th, when ABC News‘ George Stephanopoulos interviewed Speaker Pelosi for his show, ‘This Week.’

Stephanopoulos asked about Republican complaints that the House bill was anything but bipartisan.  Speaker Pelosi threw out this little gem ( around -16:30 in the interview), “Well, because the Republicans don’t vote for it, doesn’t mean they didn’t have an opportunity to.”

If that is her definition of “bipartisan“, I can’t wait to learn how she determines what goes into the ‘stimulus’ package.

Oh, look!  There it is!  Around -15:30 in the interview, she lays out her requirements for Republican proposals for additions and/or changes to the stimulus package.  She says they have to “create jobs, turn the economy around, and do so in a cost effective way.”

At -11:20 in the interview, Mr. Stephanopoulos asks how hundreds of millions of dollars for ‘family planning services’ is “stimulus.”  Speaker Pelosi’s answer?  “The family planning services reduced costs.  It reduced costs.”  Sounds more like her answer should have been, “Because I say so.”

Hmm, on second thought, I don’t think Jack hit a stand up triple.  I think he knocked it out of the park.
